At approximately 10 a.m., a New York state trooper had stopped a vehicle on the northbound side of I-684 in Bedford when 29-year-old Christopher Hillman of Danbury, who behind the wheel of a 2005 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, first struck a 2015 Volkswagon Jetta ahead of him in the middle lane then continued to the right shoulder where he then struck the patrol car, police said.

Hillman then continued between the guide rail and entire passenger side of the patrol car and struck a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, according to police.

Hillman was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance and several vehicle and traffic violations.

He was arraigned before the Town of Bedford Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear before the court on Wednesday, May 2.
